What is the Public Cloud?
Public Cloud is based on shared physical hardware which is owned and operated by third-party providers. This is an ideal solution for small and medium sized businesses in most cases because there are no hardware or maintenance costs incurred by the business. The public cloud can easily be scaled up and down as it is shared across such a large scale. Good examples of the public cloud are Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
These are worldwide services with many thousands of users and are provided by two of the biggest names in technology. By spreading the infrastructure costs across a number of businesses, prices can be kept relatively low. However, public cloud is more generic and not so helpful for companies that require specialised services.
